Yay, my first blog. Bear with me as my writing skills are not as polished as Kari's.
As all of you know I went to culinary arts school and have worked with food ever since. Naturally I was very excited for the food tasting for our wedding.
Over the past year and a half or so Kari and I have attended about 6 or 7 weddings. To me one of the things I look forward to the most is dinner. The dinners have ranged from a very basic chicken, potatoes and veggies dressed up with almonds to a nice buffet with a chef station for carving roast beef and ham. So we have seen a wide variety of dinners and I am happy to say our dinner will be top notch!
We began the dinner by taking a seat at one of the many tables they had set up. Each table was set up differently so we could get an idea of the different plates, flatware, linens, napkins folds that the hotel had to offer.
There was also 4 different stations set up: One table had some dry snacks and a gift bag that they can make for guests at the hotel. Another had the hors d'oeuvre and wine, the next one had cake and a dessert tray. Last but not least they had dinner set up buffet style.
when we sat down they passed the hors d'oeuvre and poured champagne and sparkling apple cider. The hors d'oeuvre were very elegant and delicious. I loved them! I also really like the sparkling apple cider, it was surprisingly good. While the champagne was champagne.
After our coordinator gave a short talk we were free to go try everything. Of course who was first in line at the buffet? This guy! I grabbed some of every single item they had set out, and the only thing i didn't relly like was the salmon. Other than that everything was fantastic. There was no overcooked dry chicken or anything like that so i was quite pleased.
After I ate my weight in dinner I stopped over at the dessert table and grabbed one of everything there and a slice of cake, which was a chocolate cake with bailey's cream in side and espresso or mocha frosting. Everything looked beautiful and tasted as good as it looked.
As we were leaving the hotel I cam across a nice surprise. Kari and I were waiting out in the cold for the valet to bring up our car, and this guy walks past and I thought to myself gee that guy looks like Dominik Hasek. Then i noticed he was carrying a Detroit Red Wings duffle bag and got into the bus. I was like thats right they are playing the wild tonight. The Red Wings were loading the bus as we were leaving. As many of you could imagine i got pretty excited. I saw Pavel Datsuk, Nick Lidstrom, Henrick Zetterberg, and Chris Chelios. I hope that is a good omen of things to come for our wedding. I hope this blog wasn't too long and I look forward to blogging again!

Oh Eli! I totally wish I could have crashed the food tasting if only to watch you eat your weight in food! And since I won't comment twice, I want to reference Kari's blog below about the phone. I always enjoy a phone call from my sister and if I recall correctly, last weekend I had to get off the phone with YOU. :p
Aren't you so cute with your food blog. I am going to call you Chef Eli Colleccio (sp?) Ooh, I think that would make Kari Padma! Yowza!
