I have a bit of a magazine obsession. I subscribe for four, keep myself from subscribing to two more and always find something at the newsstand.
But now that I'm getting married a whole new world of magazines has opened up to me: the world of bridal magazines.
I've gotten a lot of them. I have a stack of maybe a dozen in my house.
Lord knows I can't throw any of them away, I may need to refer back to one later! Honestly, I have done this. I've looked at invitations and marked pages for wedding dresses that I liked.
I even got my color themed from Martha Stewart Weddings. Oh and Real Simple just came out with a wedding magazine- I can't wait to pick up that one!
But the thing is that as I come along further in my wedding plans, the less I get out of the magazines. I picked up the new issue of the Knot this weekend. They had 800 wedding dresses inside. Well I got about 10 pages in and realized I had my dress and didn't need to keep looking. So that took out about two-thirds of the magazine. And the rest is just advertisements for crappy bridesmaids gifts.
Really the thing I now like the most about those magazines is the part where they feature real weddings. Like the Knot had a wedding that was in Maryland, so everything was nautical themed. Too cute!
But at $5 a pop is it really worth it? Likely not. I'll just be like everyone else and read them at the bookstore and never buy!
